X-Files Revelations Overview

Genre: Television: Series
Rating: NR
Release Date: 1-JUL-2008
Media Type: DVD

X-Files Revelations Specifications

The X-Files Revelations is a two-disc grab bag of eight significant episodes from Fox's iconic sci-fi/horror series starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents investigating the paranormal. From season 1, it includes the pilot and "Beyond the Sea," in which Brad Dourif plays a death-row inmate who claims to have psychic visions of a serial killer. In "The Host" (season 2), Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson) pursue a human-sized fluke worm, and "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" (season 3) features an Emmy-winning Peter Boyle as a man who can see how people will die. "Memento Mori" (season 4) deals with an attempt to save one of the agents from a critical disease, Jerry Springer appears as himself in the black-and-white Frankenstein story "The Post-Modern Prometheus" (season 5), "Bad Blood" (also season 5) is a vampire story, and in "Milagro" (season 6), a writer turns to Scully as his subject as he also becomes a murder suspect.

Released just before the theatrical opening of the second X-Files movie, The X-Files Revelations bills itself as the "essential guide" to that movie. But really it's just a broad sampling of the kind of episodes the series had to offer, with one major omission. By concentrating on the stand-alone "creature feature" episodes, it almost completely ignores the entangling, absorbing, and often-baffling story lines about alien abduction and government conspiracy that the series was known for. Tellingly, only two of the episodes (the pilot and "Memento Mori") also appear in The X-Files Mythology compilation series, which attempted to condense nine seasons of conspiracy themes into 16 discs. The X-Files Revelations has a lot of entertaining episodes, especially "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," and creator Chris Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz have filmed new introductions explaining why they picked each episode. And fans will also be interested in a 27-minute WonderCon panel from February 2008 with Duchovny, Anderson, Carter, and Spotniz discussing the new movie. But novices shouldn't expect this two-disc set to teach them everything they need to know about The X-Files. --David Horiuchi

Horror Movies Customer Reviews

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsWow, when I received this put it on my DVD player, I had forgotten how awesome this series was when they were at the top of their game! In all honesty, I preferred the "One Off" episodes of "Legacy - Conspiracy - Cover-up" episodes because the episodes interesting Legacy started and then everything seemed to follow a similar pattern and did not ever seem to develop or change in my eyes . Have intrigued a bit ', but nothing has been resolved and have become interchangeable in my eyes. This 2Disc successful collection shows the great diversity of the series in terms of types of incidents, as well as style.
All 8 Stories here are excellent except for the last (Milagro), Which I do not think really deserved to be strong These included other episodes, but I WAS included to demonstrate that Gillian Anderson's "acting chops" and was a favorite writer.
The pilot has a boot things exciting and the story kept me all the time absorbing. E 'was greatfirst assignment to see Mulder & Scully together. "Beyond the Sea" was next and featured an excellent performance by Brad Dourif, who played an inmate on death row who may or may not have psychic abilities that can lead FBI agents to save a kidnapped couple whose time is is low. The final scene of his journey is pretty gruesome. Interestingly, Fox & Dana switch in this episode with you as a believer "Hopeful" and Mulder as the skeptic.
"The Host" is one of the coolMonster or Alien "ep isodes type involving Fluke Giant-Man. Speaking of creepy, a look at this thing is quite freak out. Great fun scary! performance Peter Boyle in "Clyde Bruckman's Final Rest" is just so Awesome, steals every scene he is in. portays Aman, who is able to see how people die, including himself, and how this "gift" has become as much a curse him.
This episode has suspense, dark humor and a few tears as well. A great episode! For disc 2,It begins with an episode of Legacy (Memento Mori) involving Scully do with his terminal cancer condition caused by a mysterious plant found in his body. This episode Legacy is quite strong and holds well on it's own, even without the background and support from other episodes. Gillian once again shows his excellent range as an actress here.
"Post Modern Prometheus" is a modern Frankenstein meets Elephant Man type of episode, once again with a lot of bad and off beatHumor. And that was me is tearing. Cher would have to guest star in this episode, and they do not, but his character did and was just the icing on top of a Sundae Perfect / episode! Off the Wall Humor is back again in Superb "Bad Blood" which gives a different turn on the vampire legend and teaches us some new things on the Children of the Night! I do not want to give away the surprises but there is some Hilarious stuff here. Did I mention this episode is also told by both Scullyand divergent views of Mulder? Their different views on the Sheriff, and there is a reason for this are hysterical. But not all funny business, you have the share of chills as well. Finally, "Milagro" is made in a different style, narrated froma writers point of view. Although he had some interesting moments, I thought it bogged down and was rather boring. Not that it had no plot twists, etc..
This group of eight episodes reminded me what made me Love this show in its originalrun! The chemistry between Mulder and Scully is an obvious strength of the show, but do not forget the important chemical with Mitch Pileggi as well,
which is very credible as the FBI boss. There are a couple of my other favorites that I exchanged with or added to these discs, but overall, you can "T go wrong with this 2 DISC SET! Chills, mysteries, suspense, Dark Humor, Superb acting, well written stories, scenes elegant and not listed above atmosphericsoundtrack make this series one of the best when it was at the peak! And this series has not even taken in some other very cool characters in the series as the man smoking, Deep Throat, Mr. X, Krycek and those three guys Super Geek (The Lone Gunman?) What were Mulder always help out! And do not forget that Creepy Alien Bounty Hunter! Damn, this set worked, now I want to go back and have the whole series ... Well, before you begin to lose their source of actors / actresses anyway! Get It, 5of 5!

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsClassic X-Files - X-Philer - NY
X-Files Revelations Although I have the box, I bought Revelations intro for Chris Carter and I was not disappointed. Furthermore, it is nice that some of my favorite episodes on DVD. I will probably buy more copies of this to give to friends who, for reasons we'll never understand, do not watch the show when it originally aired. I am confident, after watching these episodes will be looking for more.

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsMore, More, MORE PLEASE!!! - Leonard Huang - Nanuet, USA
Only $ 13, X-Files Revelations is a superb introduction at affordable prices for 8-episode in the world of (criminal), almost forgot to X-Files. Now if only Fox and Chris Carter are willing to drop another 4 volumes of Revelations (the same price point) highlighting the best stand-alone episodes from all nine seasons. In combination with the four existing volumes Mythology and Revelations I, then we have the latest X-Files Greatest Hits collection for the casual customer who would not investmore expensive in the season / complete sets (or thought only half of the whole series was good )....

Just a thought ....

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsA Good Sampling of the Series but too Scully Focused - Derek W. Childers - VA
This dvd is not really "essential" in understanding the movie but a good sampling of the show for those who have never seen or the fan who wants some of the most memorable episodes, but does not want to buy all nine seasons of the series. Included in this set are:

1. The pilot-is basically set the entire series.
2. Beyond the sea-A "mental episode that showcases Scully.
3. The Host, one of the "most popular shows of the week" episodes
4. ClydeBruckman's Final Repose-Another episode of "psychic as well as a comic episode.
5. Memento Mori-a "conspiracy", an episode that deals with Scully's cancer.
6. Post-Modern Prometheus a comic reinterpretation of Frankenstein.
7. Bad Blood, a vampire story in comics. Voted by fans as a favorite episode.
8. Milagro-Another episode shows the character of Scully on a writer who can bring can literally kill with the written word.

Each episode is introduced by creativeThere is also a panel discussion with film stars and creators included as special features.

In general, this is a good value for money ($ 10 at Walmart), with some episodes of quality. My only gripe and the reason why I gave the dvd 4 stars instead of 5 is that the DVD is too focused Scully. One episode centered on Mulder's character should have been included. Perhaps Paper Heart "Season 4, Episode excellent showcasing the dramatic talent of David Duchovny,a story about the abduction of his sister. I'm not really sure why "Milagro" was included in this set and the episode "Hearts of paper or another season 6 episode would be the perfect DVD. IMHO

Yet, I would recommend this DVD to anyone who wanted to find out what the show was about a fan or casual that does not have a lot of dollars to spend on sets.

Interview with the Vampire (Keepcase) Specifications

When it was announced that Tom Cruise would play the vampire Lestat in this adaptation of Anne Rice's bestselling novel, even Rice chimed in with a highly publicized objection. The author wisely and justifiably recanted her negative opinion when she saw Cruise's excellent performance, which perceptively addresses the pain and chronic melancholy that plagues anyone cursed with immortal bloodlust. Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst are equally good at maintaining the dark and brooding tone of Rice's novel. And in this rare mainstream project for a major studio, director Neil Jordan compensates for a lumbering plot by honoring the literate, Romantic qualities of Rice's screenplay. Considered a disappointment while being embraced by Rice's loyal followers, the movie is too slow to be a satisfying thriller, but it is definitely one of the most lavish, intelligent horror films ever made. --Jeff Shannon

I bought this movie for my daughter as she requested. I like the two stars acting abilities. In this fantasy yester years you could see the conflict of emotions. I felt that there was much more that could be done with the story without all the gory details. After all that they do all vampires.

Hip, Hot and 21/Hot Thrills and Warm Chills Overview

Hare-Brained Hellcats Crazed for Crime! Hip, Hot and 21, hillbilly honey Diane McClunkey is sold by her step-pappy to stud Rick Edwards for fifty bucks! But after taking her to his suburban apartment, Rick abandons his country bride after their wedding night, sending Diane running into the arms of a drug-dealing lesbian hooker. Diane is soon hanging out with "a dirty little junkie" named Michelle who comes to a bloody end. This somehow propels Diane to steal fifteen grand from the mob, get attacked (twice!) by a hotel clerk, and end up in the middle of an old-fashioned shootout in this insane shot-in-Texas sexploitation gem which also features a go-go cameo by Russ Meyer discovery Lorna Maitland!

Plus: The incredible Rita Alexander -- whose special talent is balancing cocktail glasses on her bosom -- stars as former gang girl Toni who shows two other gal pals some Hot Thrills and Warm Chills when they steal a diamond crown during Mardi Gras and idiotically run for their lives straight into a local cemetery! Wow. Full of busty gals with big hair, these are two deliriously berserk nudies with all the logic of a fever dream. Even in the few moments when they do make sense, they still don't. Which is exactly what you'd expect from director Dale Berry, the man who gave the world The Girl and the Geek!

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsAbsolutely the most beautiful girls in something every Weird Video is mine. And that's saying something about me ... I think its now almost 40 something odd DVD and counting, but this (both films in the series) have the best dance and the most beautiful women I have seen 60 dead so far. Just awe-inspiring. I do not even know what the movie was about after the first run. I mesmorized women too I guess. But I remember a really fun and cussing old fowlmouthedman in the first film that made me laugh after selling his daughter beautiful way to crawl for some $ 50 in cash. haha! What a bargain. However, I recommend that if you like something strange sexploitation genre Videos 60 dead than buying this DVD as quickly as possible. You will not regret! Enjoy! -Chris, Florida

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsUnhip, ice cold, and 42...but fun! - Gothic Roots - New York, NY
Typical for the late something strange communicated through the image, there is something very funny (Hip Hot and 21) paired with something ugly and boring (Hot Warm Emotions and shivering) on the basis of some vague resemblance in plot or an actor in common. In this case, the tie revolves around an apparent robbery plot. But if you expect the likes of Grand Slam, Topkapi, or Ocean's Eleven, forget it - the actual robberies just off the ground, are not really visible (only referred tovoice-over), or play a minimal part in the proceedings to be almost nonexistent.

What are you watching this? Well, like any addict knows something strange, there are only two reasons to watch these - the unintentional comedy and strangeness of the procedure (usually based on their naievete homespun and / or inability to accomplish what you set out to do) and sex . This movie (Hot Thrills) focuses on the latter, and boy are boring! We're not talking about exactly theEmanuelle image or a movie here, people - there comes a time when the laughter stops and the fast forward button is used.

But the former is fortunately more in line with the power of film former SWV, and all the best. Some drag queens ridicule of a woman who sits around his hotel room in a nightgown stocky absurd, Goofy 60's dance music and drink. Invite some friends other than trailers (no doubt their rest day from strip club), all get drunkand talk about shortcomings of their men, and to formulate a scheme to rob a bank vaguely remember. Then we have a very long sequence for a Mardi Gras procession, with the girls wander through it - there is a brief firefight, and it's over. Theft never happens in full screen, and not exactly a hunting scene at the end ... is much talk in action and very little voice-over.

Fortunately, South overblown accents on display, the banality and absurdity ofconversations and procedures and the sheer ineptitude of the filmmakers and actors make it a true comic gem - we laughed and heckled all the way through. And that's what we looked at these outputs for SWV, first, is not it?

Prom Night (Unrated + BD Live) [Blu-ray] Overview

Genre: Horror
Rating: UN
Release Date: 19-AUG-2008
Media Type: Blu-Ray

Prom Night (Unrated + BD Live) [Blu-ray] Specifications

An attractive cast of young performers lead by Brittany Snow (Hairspray) is the main selling point for Prom Night, a remake of the 1980 Canadian slasher film starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Snow makes for a capable lead as the sole survivor of her family's massacre at the hands of an obsessed teacher (Jonathan Schaech), who returns three years later to finish his campaign on the eve of her senior prom. While no one's idea of a classic horror film, the Paul Lynch-directed Prom Night offered viewers a modest whodunit angle in between the killings; here, the villain's identity is known from the get-go, and what's left is a string of mechanical stalkings (which feature a surprisingly modest amount of blood) and reams of turgid teenspeak, which is handled as best as possible by Snow and her cast mates. The end result is a dull, suspense-free chiller that manages to make its mediocre source material seem inspired by comparison. Older moviegoers may note the presence of actors Idris Elba and James Ransone, both used so well on The Wire, and so thoroughly wasted here. --Paul Gaita

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsProm Night - Carl Manes -
A young teen returns home to find his entire family killed by a teacher obsessed and psychotic. Flash forward three years, and Donna is trying to get on with her life as she and her friends prepare for their senior prom. Prom Night is definitely a night I'll never forget when his crazy fan breaks free from prison and began to cut his way back into his life. Just like other PG-13 slasher that arouses theaters drowned in 2000, Prom Night is a thriller without bloodsheddesigned specifically for the teen audience without any regard for the fans that made the original film so popular. For your benefit, the young cast is actually full of young actors and actresses who seem real. The film also makes no attempt to conceal the identity of the killer, which allows him to become a ruthless and calculated evil. This is where the praise ends positive image for the otherwise boring and formulaic. Although it is not necessary evilfact, it is entirely devoid of interest, and lacks the gore and nudity that free slasher fans need. Prom Night brings nothing new or interesting to the table, and is best left to its designated audience (if not forgotten).

Manes-Carl
I like horror movies

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsRidiculous! - John C. Watson -
Why not just kidnap her suite at the beginning instead of killing a thousand people for no particular reason, and to attract attention to himself in the process?
Moreover, as other reviewers have mentioned, the killer is not just fear or interesting at all. In fact, he looks bored during the chase scene of the character of Lisa.
The original Prom Night was a great cast, but was able to develop most of the characters at least a little '. This film has tons of disposable charactersas the gym teacher, psychologist, and Chrissy (Lisa's rival for Prom Queen) - that could be interesting, but are introduced and then abandoned.
Obviously most horror films are not intended to be high art film, but the good ones, at least keep your attention.
This "film" is an insult to the 80's Prom Night!

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsPoor remake of a not-so-great horror slasher movie. - John Lindsey - Socorro, New Mexico USA.

3 years ago, Donna Keppel (Snow Betthany) was devestated to find his family murdered by a psychopathic madman named Richard Fenton (Schaech Johnation) as she now lives with her aunt (Jessalyn Gigslig) and uncle (Linden Ashby). Like his friends as boyfriend Bobby (Scott Porter), Lisa (Dana Davis), Claire (Jessica Strot), Ronnie (Collins Pennie) and Michael (Kelly Blatz) are going to spend a night in one of the great hotels of the city, as the senoir dance takes place there. HoweverDetective Winn (Idris Elba) has some problems as the murderess escaped mental institution to become a party crasher killing students in their rooms and the Prom.

In-name-only remake of the 1980 slasher flick not-so-classic Prom Night, "which originally star Jamie Lee Curtis. The whole film is a mess! I mean the film still has bad acting and direction. A major problem with this is that a thud unimaginative slasher, not goodkills or even a sense of fun as a total loser.

This Blu-Ray has a terrible sound and picture quality, but that still does not make the movie even the unrated version here. The extras are numerous, such as commentaries, deleted scenes, alternate ending, gag reel, video yearbook, bonus view PIP storyboard track, featurettes, trailers and TV spots.

Horror Movies Customer Reviews

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsPanic in Year Zero was the beginning of the decline of Ray Milland, good movie for its time and very worrying because of the Cuban missile crisis. The star of this double feature is by far the last man on Earth! Based on the book I am Legend, the film has recently been copied using Will Smith. This is far superior and a film Awesome. 5-star scale with Night of the Living Dead, if you liked the film will also love this. This is one of my favorite movies and a precise"Sleeper pick" the best movie nobody has heard.

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsNo Panic Needed In This Movie Zero - B26354 - Atlanta, GA
I can not decide if it was worse Milland acting or directing this film, but either way it is one of Hollywood's worst of the cold war fear mongering over-the-top do not talk crap, ever produced. Contradictory and ridiculous, one of the main messages of this film is that if you're an attractive young woman will be raped by the gang of local thugs wherever you may be - this scenario is ridiculous demonstrated at least three times in this movie. Milland plays the patriarch of the familywho happens to be just on the outskirts of Los Angeles (their hometown), when hit with a nuclear bomb. Why not just drive to the east coast (or a middle ground in this case) instead of "roughing it" in the hills of California is not explained. Instead camp in a cave, they run into the woods with guns, the stem and kill the punk who raped his daughter and trying to figure out what to do wander. Millan should be outraged and disgusted by the illegal behavior ofthe locals who become looters and rapists and well, bad drivers, (this point is also made more than once in the film when still off the road by them), but then starts to behave very similarly to violent to get what they want - guns, gas, food, whatever they need to survive, so it's just a total contradiction with itself. Frankie Avalon plays the son. I was waiting for him to come out to sing, but unfortunately it never happened. It would be a welcome distractionhis act. I can not even recommend this as a period of nostalgia or a movie.
