Sherlock Holmes Collection Volume 3 (Dressed to Kill/In Pursuit to Algiers/Terror By Night/The Woman in Green)

Sherlock Holmes Collection Volume 3 (Dressed to Kill/In Pursuit to Algiers/Terror By Night/The Woman in Green) Review

Basil Rathbone is one of two players in the history of cinema Holmes (Jeremy Brett is the other). And it was absolutely brilliant in good form in "Sherlock Holmes Collection Volume 3", which ranges from just okay.

"Dressed to Kill" is a friend of Watson (Nigel Bruce) Holmes tells of a bizarre crime - a man in his house and stole a box of useless music a valuable collection. Then the man is murdered - and three small boxes plain music is the key toSolution a sophisticated secret.

"Terror by Night" Holmes has been hired to look after a valuable diamond belonging to a wealthy woman when she travels back to Scotland. Of course, replaced the stolen diamond and the woman's son is killed in the attempt, and now Holmes discovers that the murderess is an old enemy.

"The Woman in Green" deals with a serial killer - four women died, and each time was removed with the finger. The police believe that there is only a baffling series of crimes, butHolmes knows best - and he suspects that his old man, apparently dead nemesis Moriarty (Henry Daniell) involved.

Finally there's "In Search of Algiers, was killed in the King Raven - and now his son is in danger. On the way home, the young king pretends to be a relative of Watson - but Holmes still has to protect against a range of potential murderers.

These were some of the latest Holmes adventures based not (or often vaguely) Is based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle. But even the weakest ("Dressed to Kill") is still a pleasant mystery, with some funny moments and unexpected twists. I'm just not as bright as Doyle, that's all.

It is written on a solid and staged, with many interesting settings, from the claustrophobic train in Scotland for a company hypnotists'. And the filmmakers cast some wonderful surprises, like a switcheroo Holmes plays his enemy "of terrorismNight. "

Rathbone is still best known for playing Holmes, and does it well - cool, cerebral, but with a gentle humor and warmth in the scenes, how to save the child. Bruce is not as good as the situation presents itself as a bumbler Watson-friendly, but showed a solid enough job with a bad temper.

"The Sherlock Holmes Collection Volume 3" is a bit 'less solid than the other collections, but have done much good. Definitely worth seeing.
