Doom (Full Screen) Overview

A FRANTIC CALL FOR HELP FROM A REMOTE RESEARCH STATION ON MARSSENDS A TEAM OF MERCENARY MARINES INTO ACTION. THE DESCEND INTO THE OLDUVAI RESEARCH STATION, WHERE THEY FIND A LEGION OF NIGHTMARISH CREATURES, LURKING IN THE DARKNESS, KILLING AT WILL.BASED ON THE HUGELY POPULAR VIDEO GAME.

Doom (Full Screen) Specifications

Grab your BFG and get ready to kick some Martian-demon butt in Doom, another entry in the increasingly crowded videogame-to-movie genre. The Rock plays Sarge, the commander of a squad of Marines sent to investigate a disturbance at a scientific research facility on Mars. Among the squad is John Grimm (Karl Urban, who played Eomer in The Lord of the Rings), who turns out to have had a previous relationship with Samantha (Rosamund Pike, Die Another Day), the scientist who's accompanying the Marines in order to retrieve some vital data from the facility. Based on id Software's legendary first-person shooter, Doom tries its best to look like a game, with dark, angled corridors, ferocious creatures appearing out of nowhere, and a variety of lethal weapons that will, like the aforementioned BFG, warm the cockles of a gamer's heart. There's also one memorable sequence that actually turns the movie into a first-person shooter; the good news is that in the context of the whole film, it's not quite as goofy as it might have been. And that's not a bad frame of reference for the film in general. Considering the game-to-movie field includes such duds as Wing Commander, if you go into Doom with low expectations, you'll probably find it a surprisingly respectable horror/sci-fi thriller in the Resident Evil vein (including its somewhat obligatory subplot of corporate wrongdoing). Also in its favor is that it's unabashedly R-rated, for the extreme gore that is a trademark of the game. After all, the purpose of the movie is to pack scares and thrills into a setting that gamers will quickly recognize. In that sense, it qualifies as a success. --David Horiuchi

Eragon (Full Screen Edition) Overview

In his homeland of Alagaesia, a farm boy happens upon a dragon's egg -- a discovery that leads him on a predestined journey where he realized he's the one person who can defend his home against an evil king.

Eragon (Full Screen Edition) Specifications

While it owes much of its appeal and appearance to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Eragon can stand on its own as an enjoyable fantasy for younger viewers. Faithfully adapted from the bestselling novel by teenage author Christopher Paolini, this boy-and-his-dragon tale offers clean, fast-paced family entertainment without compromising the darker qualities of Paolini's novel (the first in what is known as the "Inheritance" trilogy). The plot centers on 17-year-old peasant farmboy Eragon (played by appealing newcomer Ed Speleers) who discovers a mysterious blue object that turns out to be an egg that eventually hatches to reveal Saphira, a blue-scaled dragon that quickly grows to full-size. According to prophecy, Eragon is destined to be a dragon-rider like those who once protected a benevolent kingdom, thus reviving an ancient conflict against the army of King Galbatorix (John Malkovich), a former dragon rider who turned to evil, now in alliance with a! dark-magic "Shade" sorcerer named Durza (Robert Carlyle). While the movie serves up familiar fantasy elements and offers little if anything new to fans of the genre (or anyone who's read the books of Anne McCaffrey and Ursula K. Le Guin), it's visually impressive (especially the dragon scenes, with Rachel Weisz providing the telepathic "voice" of Saphira) and full of timeless wisdom, much of it delivered by Eragon's heroic mentor Brom (Jeremy Irons), himself a former dragon rider with memories of past battles and hope for Eragon's future. Add a fair warrior-maiden named Arya (Sienna Guillory) and you've got all the ingredients for a worthwhile (if not particularly original) fantasy that points directly to a sequel. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up to individual viewers to decide. --Jeff Shannon

E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (Full Screen Collector's Edition) Overview

Steven Spielberg's 1982 hit about a stranded alien and his loving relationship with a fatherless boy (Henry Thomas) struck a chord with audiences everywhere, and it furthered Spielberg's reputation as a director of equally strong commercial sensibilities and classical leanings. Henry Thomas gives a strong, emotional performance as E.T.'s young friend, Robert MacNaughton and Drew Barrymore make a solid impression as his siblings, and Dee Wallace is lively as the kids' mother. The special effects almost look a bit quaint now with all the computer advancements that have occurred since, but they also have more heart behind them than a lot of what we see today. --Tom Keogh

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsTo all my comments go to my website

I am NOT reviewing the DVD. Only at the movies, unless otherwise indicated.

Please note that the above ratings may not accurately reflect my thinking, you will see a sentence at the end of the rating review.

What an awesome film. Steven Spielberg and John Williams, of course, are the big names, but all have played a great role in this film. But let me say, John Williams Steven Spielberg was the most completely. I'llonly a few names, Jaws, Indiana Jones, ET, Jurassic Park, and Spielberg was offered to Superman and not take it. But John has taken the place of work, I think it was right. Now, more on ET I like the way it gradually Revel ET, enough for your soul to feel right. I mean, Steven really knows how to play with your unique, making it one of the best directors of all time.

By the way, the photography in this film is fantastic. The shots are justincredible! You do not get those natural views today. Just 360 shots. Blaug. The humor in ET is large and light-hearted, just clean. No jokes or $ 3Xual violence necessary for the laugh, all light-hearted humor can get around. I find that in the Spielberg film, and Ghostbusters. The special effects are quite amazing, how did they do in 1982? I did not think they used CGI in live action at the moment. Still, even seduce. I know the sound paidOff (oh, hello Spielberg ...) No, I'm just kidding. The animals are a good addition, but I feel as if they were mistreated.

Clichés exist, however, fit into the well in the film. Another feature similar to Indiana Jones. But here is cliché family, where Indy is cliché in action. Jurassic Park has Sci-Fi clichés, Jaws has horror clichés, gosh, like Spielberg's cliché. ET also has a great personality, you can get all around this guy. It 's just perfect for the role,is so impressive. And speaking of that, I like how little by little he is able to learn to be together with friends and on his own. Show only pretended not a family film, and really put some 'personality in the character. The child actors are fantastic, this beats Goonies. I have never seen children act with such character and feelings. This shows what. They are free and very lively.

There is a fake show for children in the film that helps to talk to ET, but the text on it is disturbing. OhWell, minor quibble. Minor addition, I also love the voice of ET, it's so classic. You know, I waited too long to see this extraordinary film. The characters are wonderful, they all represent a different part of society. The novice, intermediate and expert, but naive, elder, corrupt, pure, and, of course, stranger. It fits perfectly in only a wonderful movie. Only a perfectly pure, intelligent film. Better than some of the rubbish put out in recent days. Oh, and, of course, Halloweenscene must be talked about. In no way would anyone ever make a costume so simple yet so smart. Meaning, all you do is to handle a sheet over his head dress ET as pure genius.

Honestly, I feel the bike scene could be overestimated. But, I have waited long to see this film, maybe my brain has been to synthesize. This is something that I must live. I have also seen, but I do not remember Spider-Man. But this is nothing like waiting to see the psychological aspect of this movie is EToriginal and the genius, the ability to feel other feelings. That's amazing! No thinking other thoughts, Spielberg was able to think in the way I am. Felt other emotions, which is correct and surprising. Beautiful. This film is not afraid to rip your heart, put the heart back inside makes you feel very deeply.

"Hey, who are you?" "I'm driving." Awesome line, which goes in the line of fame. A beautiful film.

I rate, 5.3 / 5

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsA MUST HAVE!!! - flo stengel -
I may be a bit 'too old for the purchase of ET in DVD format (I have the movie on VHS) and I remember taking my three young sons to the movie, not knowing what to expect and went on all the "chatter in the office "on how good the movie was. I remember that after all these years, died as flowers, leaves and dead feeling well. I also remember, not a few tears, but I really cry. I think two of my children even cried more than a few tears.
I purchased this in DVD form so I can pass on tomy three grandchildren, and will be able to experience this powerful film. Flo Stengel

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsOne of the 5 Best Science Fiction films ever made! This edition is also great, in that it offers both the original version and - Lawrence J. Cohen -
This must be one of the five best science fiction films ever made! This edition contains two DVDs, one containing the original version we all remember from 1982 (I was sixteen, my brother was ten years old, and we all laughed at the scene van because I was also going for the license), as well as a second disc that contains version by Steven Spielberg.

I happen to like both equally well. I thought Steven removing the weapons was a nice touch. In real life, I certainly hope the Fedsdo not pull guns guys like that! If they did, says a lot about how we are becoming a police state and the need to rethink some things, even in the climate of fear in view of terrorism.

This was a classic, a movie magic, someone who likes to watch over and over again.

E 'was also the first DVD I bought when I broke and bought a combination DVD player / VHS recorder. The image on tape vs DVD was fantastic!

Five stars for the filmand the disc together.

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsGrandchildren and I all loved it - Deborah Finnegan -
My grandchildren come every year to visit their home in Italy. This year they were old enough to watch "ET", so that we all have seen many times. E 'was great for their age, from 3 to 8, and continued to say, after "ET "!!!! Wanting to look again. (The youngest insist on calling "AT!" But we all knew what that meant.) This is a film so captivating! The relationship between the boy and the alien has been incredibly .... intimate portrait touches the heart ofall ages. Now one of my favorite movies, and you can see, I am an ounce!

The Hive (Wide Screen Edition) Overview

The ninth installment in the Maneater Series, The Hive unleashes a mass of flesh-eating army ants 200 million strong is making its way through the jungles of Brazil devouring every living thing in its path. Called in to stave off the attack is Horace Lennart, a scientist from Thorax Industries extermination service in Los Angeles, and his girlfriend, entomologist Claire Dubois. But when they discover the bizarre intention and origins of the crawling creatures, they fear for the future of the planet. When these ants come crawling, classic horror gets a contemporary twist and an unearthly invasion gets the upper hand.

Horror Movies Customer Reviews

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsI found myself saying that a little 'in this film, actually. As many of you undoubtedly know, I took it upon myself to watch all the films of the 'Man-Eater'. If you do not know, these are a lot of low budget horror film that debuted on the Sci-Fi channel and have several animals Running Amok and attack people. You know, like grizzly bears, sharks, crocodiles, Bengal tigers, giant squid, or in this particular case, swarms of ants. Well, more or less. But I'll arrive on time. And believe me, this really takes the cake!

My girlfriend took this as a surprise gift, and we saw that last night. All I can say is ... what just happened? We found ourselves laughing through the whole movie, so some of my criticisms may not be entirely accurate. However, the film is set in a 'generic SE Asian archipelago' (but accidentally shot in Thailand) and possibly set in the future as the exterminators high-tech in the movie seem to wear space suits andshoot laser beams swarm of ants. Yes, you heard me right, freaking laser beams! Just as ants, however, this consists of cheese, hastily made CGI artwork. But the ants really take the cake, not least of which, why do things like this ... oh, form giant fists flying! Made entirely of ants!

Mind you, I did not go in until this is all a scientific film, and (of course) the army ants 'living bridge' form so joining ... sort of. But still, this movie really test the limits of credibility here. Most of the actors were not so interesting, apart from the two chicks (none of which are eaten by ants, by the way, despite what the child formosa on the cover may lead you to think), and the boy Asian dictator which opens up occasionally. But the highlight of this film is the way in part through when the ants form a computer LIFE (!) Through the generation of electricity (!) And conduct a hostage negotiation with humans (?!?!). Oh, thatand the fact that aliens were involved in some way (we find only in the last five minutes or so).

So, my opinions of this ... abomination? Well, it was pretty funny. Almost surreal, actually. As I said, one of the giant ant fists and references to a (invisible) ship, I'm not entirely sure what to make of this one. Its very different from other flicks like Man-Eater 'man-eater', 'Croc', 'Eye of the Beast' and the recent 'Hybrid,' thats for sure. Much more sci-ficontent. If you like the film baaad, do not miss this one. It 's the cheesiest thing I've seen in quite a long time.

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsThe CGI Hive - Richard Nervous - Florida
After reading many positive reviews on this I took the plunge and bought it, it was not a good idea. What do I expect? I really was not expecting much in fact, knowing the type of movie it was I wanted it to be fun. I knew there would be tons of CGI and probably would be pretty bad as well, but I was ready to look the same.

The biggest challenge I had with this is that it's Sci-Fi than it is horror. The cover is definitely misleading, as it seemsGorefest could be a fun, but I never paid attention to the window and note that it was a production Syfy, my goof. I would have avoided altogether, if I had known.

The film is not horrible, but not really deliver the goods, there is a lot of CGI, but that's to be expected in a series of Man Hunter. Here are the pros and cons, as I see them:

Pros:
Good photography
An interesting story (it's a bit 'weird but fun!)
Great Audio

By's:
No Blood!
Slow pacing

The wolf is really outperform the rest. It begins in the first 20 minutes moving very fast and then all of a sudden it stops completely all actions for 45 minutes of dialogue and science. I think this part is for fans of science fiction that I'm not generally a part of it and completely destroyed the moment the film has been building. The film had no Gore, while the box art made it seemLike this film would have been a bit 'explicit.

It is not terrible, but I'd rather spend another 90 minutes with "haunting," which is like a movie, but really delivers the goods and is a fun ride.

This could have been better with more action in the midst of building a great climax.

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsStrange movie - Bakuryuu Tyranno - England
Okay first of all, this movie is very strange. Masses of army ants swarm everywhere, causing the army of an Asian country to call in exterminators four African American, cause you know murders are exterminating pests much more skillful than men of the army.

And of course these guys have weapons technology that exceeds any seen before anywhere. They can spread their destructive power over a wide area and for some reason has never hurt anyone, but the insects. Is it somehow their ammunition because onlyinfluence insect DNA?

As for the ants, swarming all over the world apart and devours people have the ability to form huge tentacles that may or may not have their hands in the end, the kind of things mainframe computer and a bizarre giant ant.

Yes, that's a very strange film. The only downside I expected it to be a bit 'more chaotic (there are a lot of scenes of people standing around discussing their plans), and was hoping someone would do on a regular Oviearmy ants before they have additional skills in film was made.

But in reality, the main problem with the film Sci-Fi Channel movies is that they are generic and this monster is anything but. It may be funny and over-the-top, but it is an original, inventive, a very funny sci-fi movie.

Horror Movies Customer Reviewsoh, the pain. oh, the misery. - Robert P. Beveridge - Cleveland, OH
The Hive (Peter Manus, 2007)

The Hive Five minutes in, I knew it was terrible. I propose a new unwritten rule of reviewing movies: any movie that uses CGI blob to represent any kind of creature swarming is automatically terrible.

Ten minutes after the hive, I had forgiven the CGI blob and was convinced that it would be better to look at the [censored for Amazon consumption] movie killer ants from The Naked Jungle. (Okay, maybe when it happened at Lakewood Manor. But youget the idea.) First, most professional major titles I've seen on almost any film I've seen on the Sci-Fi channel, and this also applies to the theatrical version as well. And then, well, the hardware is great chest? Putting together the big guns and flak jackets and ants are sold.

Twenty minutes into The Hive, we see the first tentacle ant. Regard immediately returned to the dumpster. Unfortunately, it is never found again.

If you need a plot summary for aAnt Movie killer: there are killer ants. We are human beings trying to stop the killer ants. What can you tell? Well, you should probably know that humans are using what looks like the laser guns, and the ants take the concept of "hive mind" to a new level of cheese and stupid.

I will give this movie one thing - that introduced me to the beautiful Jessica Reavis, the rest of that work will now be hunting. However, nothing else about the movie is worth it.Manus and writer TS Cook (can you believe that this guy was responsible for the China Syndrome?) Find all possible ways to make this film so terrible as possible, and use them aggressively. I guess actually faced with an army of killer ants would be preferable to sitting for the whole movie again. *

Queen of the Damned (Full Screen Edition) Overview

After years of slumber, the legendary vampire has awakened and found acceptance in a tattooed, pierced and black-clad world. He's a rock star. And his awesome punk-chic sound has echoed around the globe...and stirred to life the fearsome Mother of All Vampires. Based on "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice, whose work previously came to the screen in "Interview with the Vampire."

Horror Movies Customer Reviews

Horror Movies Customer ReviewsI admit, I love this movie. However I did see that before I read all the books, so it may be a little bias. Personally I think that if they had time to make this film in two, and even tried to do the vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned some kind of justice, this would be totally taken the cake. But they did not. So I say: If you have not read one of Anne Rice books you'll probably like this movie. The film itself is better than any other "vampire movieI have seen as yet. Is not equal to the book, however, that film?

I love this movie. Stuart is hot in this movie. The film manages to deliver a surreal atmosphere charged with sensuality as a vampire. A vampire love story.
