Elvira's Movie Macabre: Legacy of Blood Overview
When their father dies, three greedy sisters and their husbands reunite to hear the reading of the will. His fortune is theirs…assuming, of course, they’re able to survive a weekend at the family mansion. One by one, the unsavory characters find themselves the targets of an unknown killer who has plans of their own for the family fortune.
"You Do Like Ham, Don't You?" - Robert I. Hedges - You better like ham if you are going to make it through this film. Nutty old billionaire John Carradine dies and put a clause on the respect of his estate to his four children and three servants through a tape recorded cranky testament in which he expresses distaste for all and says bizarre things like "this could separate the rabbits from the alley cats, "and then laughs maniacally. They must spend a week in their home or are unable to get their share of inheritance. Eachsingle person in the film is totally abhorrent, and halfway through I do not care as long as the finished film was over.
After the children are placed in the home, they all begin to die in a variety of strange ways all of which are weakly presented: Johnny is killed in a tank of piranhas convenient, another head is located under an aluminum foil on a plate refrigerator, a couple are killed by electrocution in bed, is a shot in the head, etc. There are morefeatures Carradine as an adult to dress up as an organ grinder monkey, the ax head free action (one of the worst special effects ever), voracious insects, lashes, a servant named Igor, and overacting the likes of which you rarely seen.
The movie trudges on, and it is clear that the conclusion will be played in about half of the film. A special mention goes to the final line of the film, sent direct to the public "And I bet you thought it was the butlerall the time. "Annoyance is also of extreme value to the music of closure, which borders on unlistenable. I gave this film two stars (generously) to the child, but hilarious Hammy, the performance by John Carradine. Truly a master of horror in his day but a master of overacting even more when his days were passed.
Elvira's great, but ... - J.S. - Oy, that a film boring. A group of snobby rich '70s-era types are forced to stay home for their deceased benefactor the shaking, and the resulting chaos usually one-by-one-get-them-off-elected. Well, perhaps "chaos" is the right word: This is an incredibly talky film, and none of the characters worth of interest of an observer. However, it is nice to see this DVD of the old KHJ / Channel 9 in LA program, "Movie Macabre", which is where Cassandra Peterson really shined as the hostess Vampy, Elvira. Despiterevealing clothes, I think we kids really liked her back in the day for his witty, self-deprecating personality, we thought it was cool not to take herself - or film - seriously.
